Private jet charter prices are determined by a number of factors. Many companies will give you an estimation by the hour, some by the distanced traveled while others will automatically take your first born. I am just kidding about the distanced traveled prices =)
Estimating a price by the hour is the standard method. This method however, does not always provide the quickest most accurate estimate.
The primary factors in determining the price of your private jet charter trip are:
Aircraft Age, Number of hours an aircraft is available for charter in a year, Aircraft Category, Length of Trip, Airport Fees, Fuel Surcharge fees, Carbon off-set fees, and Concierge services. To wrap it up, there is a lot of information and different inputs that can and will adjust the cost of chartering an aircraft.
Just like a movie theater airports age and become outdated. The one thing that will never change is the original manufacture date of an aircraft. This date will determine a lot about the price of an aircraft. The older the manufacture date the lower the price. Also just like a movie theater, you can update the appearance. The cost of interior refurbishment will obviously be passed along to the end user – you. So in summary the nicer the duds on the inside the higher the price for the ride.
Many aircraft charter companies will have a certain number of planes that they can charter out only a certain number of hours per year. This is due to scheduling, cleaning, safety and maintenance reports and a whole host of other restrictions. If the aircraft you want to charter only has a small amount of flight hours available, the price will ultimately be higher.
Aircraft category is an interesting input. Different aircraft are categorized just like cars. Sub-Compact, Compact, SUV ect. This is determined by the number of passengers. So if you want to cut some costs, cut the guest list.
This is the obvious factor when looking at Private Jet Prices. The length of trip. Many companies will require a two hour minimum for a trip while others will categorize by day. You can have a same day round trip, a weekend trip and a several day trip. The most common is the same day round trip. A weekend trip will require extra payment for overnight costs. Yes the plane needs a hotel room too and it is called a Hanger. The several day trip will be the most expensive because most likely the aircraft will not stay many days away from its base. This back and forth will result in double round trips.
Airport Fees start to add up also. Not only do they charge you per bag if you go on a commercial airliner but when you charter a private jet, you will have to add in Landing Fees, and FBO Service fees. These are usually factored in to the price but some locations may be more expensive depending on what their airport fees are.
Every business nowadays tacks on a fuel service charge. When paying your garbage bill, you have to pay a fuel service charge, if you get anything delivered outside a certain radius, bam, fuel service charge. SO it is not unexpected to see a charge like this show up on a private jet contract.
Do you want in-flight catering, hotel accommodations, luxury car, massage ect. Ect. All of these will be added on to the price of you Charter Jet. So don’t be surprised when you have beautiful women on board to serve you food and drink but then you will end up paying for it afterwards. Here are some typical Categorical costs/hr:
· Helicopters - 1000/hr up to 3000/hr
· Turbo Props - 1250/hr up to 2500
· Light Jets - 1950/hr up to 3450/hr
· Mid-Sized Jets - 3200/hr up to 4800/hr
· Heavy Jets - 4800/hr up to 9000/hr
· Airliners - 6500/hr up to 15000/hr
